b. It is buffeting him. The word means, “to strike with clenched hands, to buffet with the fist.”

The Path to Peace
1. Introduction: There is a way to end the violence and to bring peace and prosperity to this world. While many commentators read this verse and say it refers to the time when Christ returns and sets up His millennial reign, the text says, “it shall come to pass in the last days,” and we are now in the last days. (Acts 2:15-17). The kingdom of God is now. The Spirit is here now. His word is true now. Jesus is Lord now. We do not have to wait for time, we have to look to God and discover what he has already given and already done for us.

1. Introduction: Daniel and his three friends were taken away from their home, their culture, and their religious center (the temple) and taken to Babylon to serve the king. They were stripped away from their life, and their life was stripped away from them. They were to be assimilated into the world, but instead, they took captivity captive and though they were exiled from home, they were not exiled from God.

When we look at this passage, we must consider that God is showing us pictures of what Kingdom order is and what it is not, and how to get there.

b. The disciples did not realize they were not dependent upon the timing of the natural world order. They did not know what time it was, because although they were now living in the time of the Kingdom, they were still bound in their minds by the timing of the world.

1. Introduction: If God loves me, why am I suffering?

2. Jesus is not the Reason for your Season.
a. We are told that the Christmas season is more than shopping and decorations and gift-giving. We are told that “Jesus is the reason for the season.” We like to have a reason for doing things.
i. We are not told anywhere in the Bible to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Yet, He is worth celebrating, and the church has created the entire Advent season to celebrate the coming of our Lord.
